Brazos River Basin Subwatersheds

What is a Watershed?

The term watershed refers to an area of land that captures water in any form and drains it to a particular body of water, such as a river or lake.

Everything in a watershed is connected and any activity that affects water quality, quantity or rate of movement at an upstream location can change the characteristics of watershed at downstream locations.

Collectively, the watersheds of the Brazos River Basin provide critical natural services that sustain and enrich our daily lives; they supply our drinking water; they provide critical habitat for plants and animals; provide areas of natural beauty; and provide areas for recreation and relaxation.
